Public speaking

I’ve always believed that sharing knowledge is a powerful thing. I once heard that the best way to truly understand a topic is to present it to others – and I’ve found that to be true.

Over the past few years, I’ve given several talks and presentations to highlight best practices, showcase useful tools, and raise awareness. Below, you’ll find more details about each of them.

WordPress & Web Accessibility – March 2024

For the 39th Thessaloniki WordPress meetup, I had the great opportunity to chat with Alex Stine, the representative of the accessibility team of WordPress at the time.

We’ve talked about web accessibility in general, how it affects everyday activities and concerns about accessibility in WordPress.

During the meetup the recorded interview was presented and afterwards a follow-up panel discussion regarding web accessibility took place. As part of the panel, I ‘ve talked about accessibility standards (WCAG, ATAG, UTAG) and policies (e.g. ADA, EEA etc.) as well as tools that help test for a website’s accessibility.

Forking the GPL way – November 2024

Participating in the WordCamp Larissa 2024, I ‘ve co-presented the “Forking the GPL way”. After explaining what a fork is, we went over GPL licensing and Open Source software. The purpose of this presentation was to draw a clear line over what forking actually is and how some people erroneously use the term to cover up code stealing.
